The Glasgow Roast - where it all began!

Our Glasgow Roast is where it all began and we've not looked back since!. Featuring a carefully selected blend of beans from India, Kenya, Brazil, and Guatemala, this roast showcases distinct flavour profiles shaped by the unique climates, altitudes, and processing methods of these origins.  It's the perfect pick me up for all Glaswegians!

Here's a wee guide to what makes each country (that contributes to the Glasgow Roast) special as a coffee producer:

India

Flavour Profile: Indian coffee delivers rich, earthy, and spicy tones, often accented by hints of nuts, dark chocolate, and a touch of pepper. It offers a full body and low acidity.

Growing Regions: Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are key areas, benefiting from monsoon rains that give rise to the unique "Monsooned Malabar" beans.

Processing: Both natural and washed methods are common, with "monsooning" standing out—a process where beans are exposed to humid monsoon winds, producing a mellow, earthy flavour.

Kenya

Flavour Profile: Kenyan coffee is celebrated for its bright acidity, vibrant citrus and berry notes, and wine-like complexity. It has a juicy body and a clean, crisp finish.

Growing Regions: High-altitude areas like Nyeri, Kirinyaga, and Kiambu, with nutrient-rich volcanic soils, are ideal for producing these distinctive beans.

Processing: Washed (wet) processing dominates, enhancing the coffee's clarity and bright flavours.

Brazil

Flavour Profile: Known for its smooth and balanced profile, Brazilian coffee offers flavours of chocolate, nuts (especially hazelnut), caramel, and mild fruitiness. It has medium to full body and low acidity.

Growing Regions: Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Espírito Santo are key producers, with a warm climate and lower altitudes supporting large-scale coffee cultivation.

Processing: Natural (dry) processing is prevalent, adding sweetness and body, while pulped natural (semi-washed) methods are also used.

Guatemala

Flavour Profile: Guatemalan coffee is renowned for its complexity, featuring bright citrus and floral notes alongside deep chocolate and caramel undertones. It has a full body with vibrant, balanced acidity.

Growing Regions: Regions like Antigua, Huehuetenango, and Atitlán offer high altitudes, diverse microclimates, and nutrient-rich volcanic soils that contribute to its exceptional character.

Processing: Washed processing is the standard, which highlights crisp, nuanced flavours.
